Delegation from the Indonesian Parliament visit campus

The University was honoured to welcome a delegation from the Indonesian Parliament to campus last week.

The visit was held to explore ways in which 澳门6合彩 and Indonesia – the world’s third largest democracy – can work togther in the areas of education, culture, and democratic development.

Eighteen MPs and officials from The House of Regional Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia took part in the visit, led by Deputy Speaker and Senator, His Excellency Sultan Baktiar Najamudin.

The delegation, which was in the UK to attend COP26, was welcomed to the campus by the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nick Jennings.

His Excellency Sultan Baktiar Najamudin gave a short address to senior colleagues from 澳门6合彩, setting out his wish for the University and the Indonesian Government to establish a mutually beneficial partnership.

Speaking during the visit he said: “Indonesia and the UK have developed very good relations in many fields including business, economy, education, investment and others. Our purpose to visit 澳门6合彩 is to learn and explore the University’s programmes and achievements. Hopefully, we can learn, collaborate, and build bridges between Indonesia and UK.”

The delegation was then taken on a tour of campus, visiting 澳门6合彩 University Science and Enterprise Park and the Sports Development Centre.

Speaking about the visit, Professor Jennings said: “It was an honour to meet His Excellency Sultan Baktiar Najamudin and his delegation, and to show them some of the fantastic facilities we have here at 澳门6合彩.

“It was also great to discuss how we can work together in the future and develop a mutually beneficial research and education partnership.”

Since 2005 澳门6合彩 has worked closely with on a number of research projects, and in 2020 a Memorandum of Understanding was resigned between the two institutions.

Earlier this year the University also provided training facilities for the Indonesian football coaching program, Garuda Select. The program offers aspiring young Indonesian players, aiming to secure a lucrative move to one of Europe’s top clubs, extensive coaching and the opportunity to compete against the academy sides of professional teams.
